Ed Sheeran is back with his first new music since 2015 with the release of not one, but TWO brand new singles from his third studio album ÷ (Division): “Shape Of You” and “Castle On The Hill” – Happy New Year to us!

While he’s technically not released any music of his very own since 2015, Ed hasn’t necessarily been quiet during his hiatus, penning smashes “Cold Water” for Major Lazer and “Love Yourself” for Justin Bieber, which is up for Song of the Year at this year’s GRAMMY Awards.

“Hello 2017! I’ve been working hard on the new material and I hope you can be as excited about it as I am,” Ed said in a statement. “I really wanted to show two different sides to my music that I’m equally as passionate about and I just knew I wanted to roll with two songs at the same time. I’m absolutely buzzing to be back.”

The first song “Castle On The Hill” – written and produced by Sheeran and Benny Blanco – is a shimmering anthem that steadily builds along folky guitar-pop driven melodies and pulsating synth pulses, paying homage to growing up in the English countryside town of Framlingham, Suffolk. “I’m on my way/ Driving at 90 down those country lanes,” Ed sings on the soaring hook. “Singing to “Tiny Dancer”/ And I miss the way you make me feel, and it’s real/ We watched the sunset over the castle on the hill.” It’s signature Ed at his very best!
